Two Seasons, One Island
Phu Quoc has two distinct seasons — dry and rainy — each with its own rhythm and appeal. Understanding the difference helps you plan a trip that matches exactly what you're looking for.
Layla's tip — best time to visit
March is the sweet spot — no rain, crystal-clear visibility, and calm seas perfect for snorkeling and beach days. October runs a close second: the rains ease off, the waterfalls are still full, and the island is quieter before peak season kicks in.

Dry Season
This is Phu Quoc at its most inviting — long sunny days, calm seas, and conditions perfect for spending time on the water. March and April are the hottest months, reaching up to 34°C (93°F), but the sea breeze keeps things bearable.
Rainfall is minimal, with brief showers that pass quickly. The sea is calm and visibility underwater is at its clearest — ideal for snorkeling and island-hopping.
What to do
Starfish Beach is stunning this time of year. Snorkeling, beach days, watersports, and island-hopping are all at their best. Vinpearl Safari, Vin Wonders, the cable car, Ho Quoc Pagoda, and Coconut Prison are all worth visiting between beach days.

Season 01
Rainy season
The rainy season has its own appeal — temperatures are slightly cooler, the island turns a vivid green, accommodation prices drop, and the crowds thin out considerably.
Rain typically comes in short, heavy bursts — most often in the late afternoon or evening — leaving plenty of clear time in the mornings. July and August see the most rainfall, but even then, sunny days are common.
What to do
This is the best time to visit the island's waterfalls, which are full and dramatic. Sao Beach and Khem Beach remain beautiful. Ferry services can be suspended during strong weather, so always check conditions before planning a boat trip.

Season 02
Best Time to Snorkel in Phu Quoc
The short answer: dry season. But the rainy season is more forgiving than you might think.
— Crystal-clear visibility for reef exploration
Dry Season
November to April offers the clearest water and calmest seas. Visibility is typically excellent, coral is vivid, and conditions are consistent day after day.
Best conditions
— Calm, flat seas — comfortable for all swimmers
— Consistent conditions across the whole season
Rainy Season
STILL POSSIBLE
May to October is less predictable, but don't write it off. Many days are clear and calm, and on the right day visibility can actually rival the dry season.
— Morning conditions are often excellent
— Some days offer surprisingly clear water
— We monitor conditions daily and adjust if needed

What to Pack for Phu Quoc
The essentials stay the same whatever the season — Phu Quoc is tropical year-round.
Travel Smart
①
Lightweight Clothing
Breathable cotton and linen work best. The heat and humidity make heavy fabrics uncomfortable — pack light and keep it simple.
②
Swimwear
Pack more than you think you'll need — you'll be in and out of the water constantly. A rash guard is worth considering for long days on the boat.
③
Sun Protection
Reef-safe sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and UV-protective sunglasses. The tropical sun is stronger than it feels, especially on the water.
④
Comfortable Footwear
Sandals for the beach and a pair of comfortable walking shoes for exploring the island's villages, markets, and northern trails.
