By Plane

Domestic flights
The most popular routes depart from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN, 1 hr) and Hanoi (HAN, 2 hrs). Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Sun Phu Quoc Airways all operate these routes regularly at a range of price points. Less frequent connections are also available from Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Hai Phong.

International flights
Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) connects directly to Bangkok, Seoul, Sinagpore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong, Mumbai, and several Thai cities. During peak season (November–March), charter flights also run directly from Poland. Travelers from other regions typically connect through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.

The fastest way to arrive

Layla's tip

Book at least 3–4 weeks ahead during peak season (November–April) — fares climb quickly and early booking makes a real difference to your budget.

OPTION 1

By Ferry

From HA TIEN
The shortest crossing takes about 1.5 hours — and it's particularly popular with travelers coming from Cambodia. From the border, a taxi to the Ha Tien ferry terminal runs around 150,000 VND.

From Rach Gia
Ferries from Rach Gia take around 2.5 hours. The city has more accommodation and dining options, making it a convenient overnight stop. Sleeper buses from Ho Chi Minh City connect directly to the terminal.

A scenic, budget-friendly alternative

Layla's tip

The dry season (November–April) is the best time to travel by ferry. During the rainy season, services can be suspended at short notice for safety — always check schedules the day before you travel.

Phú Quốc Express — high-speed ferry connecting the mainland to the island.

OPTION 2

Getting Around Once You Arrive

Whether you land at the airport or step off the ferry, getting into town is simple.

On the Island

From the Ferry Terminal

Taxis wait just outside the terminal gates. Both Grab and Xanh SM work well here — having the apps ready before you board lets you compare prices and skip any negotiation.

The terminal sits in Dương Đông town, so most hotels and guesthouses are just a short ride away.

From the Airport

Look for the green VinBus outside arrivals — it runs a fixed route connecting the airport to central and northern Phú Quốc at a very low fare. Download the VinBus app for live schedules.

For more flexibility, Grab and Xanh SM are both active on the island and easy to use from the arrival gate. Fixed-price taxi counters are also available inside the terminal.
